About the Role
We are seeking a Programme Leader for our School Holiday Programme in Porirua. This role is a fixed-term position of 40 hours per week, with compensation ranging from $23.50 to $29.10, plus a Programme Leader allowance. As a Programme Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of support workers who are committed to making the school holidays enjoyable and safe for children with intellectual disabilities.
In this position, you will report to the Service Coordinator and facilitate a range of meaningful activities that encourage children to engage in various tasks. Our focus is on creating a fun and positive environment while ensuring the well-being of all participants. Your responsibilities will also include administrative tasks, resource management, and coaching your team to deliver excellent support.
This contract will cover a duration of over two consecutive weeks, running from September 22nd to October 4th, Monday to Friday, excluding training days.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following minimum requirements:
- A full New Zealand driver's license
- Ability to pass a New Zealand police check and an Oranga Tamariki check
- Previous experience working with children with disabilities is preferred, although not essential
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with the children you support, their families, and your team, including your manager. You may need to learn various communication styles and tools.
- Capability to lead, coach, and develop team members, along with problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and understanding positive behavior support strategies
- Ability to organize and allocate rosters, as well as manage the booking calendar for attendance
