About the Role We are currently seeking a Casual District Nurse to join our teams located in Kapiti, Kenepuru, or Wellington. This position is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse looking to utilize their skills with greater autonomy. The role of a District Nurse is multi-faceted and rapidly evolving, requiring a compassionate and dynamic professional. You will work both independently and collaboratively, making clinical decisions based on your assessment skills. Shifts for this position run from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM for day shifts and from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM for afternoon shifts. As a District Nurse, you will have access to regular in-service training, study days, and academic opportunities through local institutions. You will also play a vital role in service development by participating in team meetings and Service Improvement Group (SIG) discussions. We invite candidates with previous community nursing experience or backgrounds in palliative care, medical care, wound care, or community nursing to apply. We also welcome applications from nurses with other backgrounds, as we provide a comprehensive orientation period. Please note that police vetting is required if you are not currently employed by Capital Coast. The salary range for this role is MECA Step or $100,849 - $106,739, pro rata. About the Team/Service/Location The Community Health Service, specifically the Kapiti District Nurse team, is based at the Kapiti Health Centre in Warrimoo Street, Paraparaumu. Our District Nurses support the transition of patients from hospital to the community, collaborating with GP practices to care for their patients. In this role, you will provide home interventions such as intravenous therapy, palliative care, wound care, compression bandaging, medication management, stoma care, incontinence care, and respiratory care, including home oxygen therapy. You will work alongside Community Health and Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), assessing patients who require personal care, developing care plans, and coordinating care delivery. About You To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes: - A current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the New Zealand Nursing Council - Previous experience in a district nursing position with an interest in community settings - Enrollment in or willingness to work towards the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) - A minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience - Strong relationship-building skills with other community healthcare providers - Collaborative mindset and excellent decision-making skills - A valid New Zealand driver’s license is essential Working at Health New Zealand At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we prioritize the well-being of our community.
