About the Role
We are currently seeking a Night Shift Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Christchurch-based workshop. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to be part of our existing team. Our comprehensive heavy vehicle workshop, located at our Hornby yard, provides mechanical services for our plant and equipment. We also offer onsite WOF testing, auto electrical services, and a paint shop, creating a "one-stop-shop" for all vehicle repairs.
As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing and repairing vehicles and plant equipment
- Completing inspections of vehicles and trailers
- Reporting all failures, breakdowns, and causes
- Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Availability to work a consistent night shift roster (1:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
- National Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering
- Full Class 1 Driver's License (Class 2 and WTR endorsements would be advantageous)
- Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to work to a high standard with minimal supervision
- Proactive approach to Health and Safety, which is our top priority
- Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a willingness to learn and upskill
