About the Role
We are seeking an experienced diesel mechanic who is ready to step into a leadership position while continuing to work hands-on. If you are looking for a new challenge where your skills and ingenuity are appreciated in a supportive team environment, we would like to hear from you.
The On-the-tools Workshop Supervisor role is based at our Rolleston Branch in Christchurch, and it includes local travel to customer sites in a provided vehicle. This is a permanent full-time position, with a minimum expected commitment of 40 hours per week.
In this role, you will be responsible for job allocation, providing customer support, and overseeing day-to-day workshop duties. The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Trade certification or over five years of industry experience working with construction equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Flexibility to work on Central Group's diverse range of equipment, including forklifts, work vehicles, light and heavy machinery, and small engines
- A full NZ Class 1 & 2 driver's license with a clean driving record
- Appropriate licenses for heavy trucks, construction equipment, WTR, and forklifts
- Leadership skills to guide the team and complete necessary administrative tasks
- Ability to initiate jobs, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure high-quality machine delivery, whether new, used, or customer-owned
- Capability to generate and maintain service work for the team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills that facilitate excellent customer service
