Description
About the Company
At Max People, we have established ourselves as a trusted recruitment agency specializing in the construction sector. Over the years, we have expanded our expertise to include agriculture, manufacturing, and logistics, providing customized labor-hire solutions to leading firms across New Zealand. We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality and the success of our clients and candidates alike.
About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced heavy diesel or truck mechanics for a hands-on workshop role. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse fleet of trucks and earthmoving equipment, ranging from classic machines to the latest technology. Our team values variety, and no two days will be the same. For the right candidates, there is potential for career advancement into foreman positions.
What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will be responsible for servicing and repairing trucks, trailers, and earthmoving machinery, including both vintage and brand new models. You will diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems using modern diagnostic tools. Your tasks will also include overhauling engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspensions, as well as carrying out preventative maintenance and recording all repairs and services.
If you step into a foreman role, you will lead a small team and ensure the workshop maintains high standards of quality and efficiency.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for trade-qualified heavy diesel or truck mechanics with solid experience in diesel engines, braking systems, hydraulics, and drivelines. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and workshop machinery is essential. Experience in a foreman role is preferred, but we are also open to candidates who are eager to step into a leadership position. A strong focus on health, safety, and attention to detail is crucial. Additionally, a current New Zealand driver's license (Class 2 or higher) is ideal.
Benefits
We offer competitive pay rates ranging from $35 to $45 per hour, depending on experience and the specific role. Opportunities are available now for mechanics and workshop foremen alike. You will have the chance to work with a wide range of machinery, including modern, classic, and vintage models. Our workshop culture promotes long-term stability, and we provide well-equipped facilities for our team.
Please note that all applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
