About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and highly skilled Clinical Physiologist to join our dynamic team at Waikato Hospital. This is a full-time position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. As part of the Cardiac Physiology service, you will work alongside a dedicated team of Cardiac Physiologists and Technicians. Together, we collaborate closely with physicians, administrative staff, and support personnel to deliver high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care for both inpatients and outpatients. Your responsibilities will include performing cardiac tests and assessments, interpreting results, and maintaining a focus on patient care while upholding professional standards. Continuous education and training are essential to ensure that you maintain the necessary knowledge and skills to meet competency standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of physiological assessments, including ECGs, pulmonary function tests, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Interpret test results and provide clinical reports to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new clinical protocols and practices.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and trainees.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and attend relevant clinical meetings.

Waikato Hospital, located in Hamilton, New Zealand, is a leading tertiary teaching hospital and a cornerstone of healthcare in the Midland region. As the regional hub for the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts, we provide exceptional healthcare services to a diverse population.

Cardiology at Waikato Hospital includes:
- Outpatient Clinics
- Cardiac Diagnostic Testing
- A Cardiac Interventional Suite offering procedures such as:
- Coronary Angiograms
- Left and right heart studies
- Coronary interventions, including CTO
- Balloon Valvuloplasty and TAVI
- PFO/ASD/LAA Closure
- Implantation of Pacemakers, ICDs, and CRTs
- Electrophysiology Studies, including 3D mapping and Ablation
The Cardiac Physiology Service also includes:
- Pacing/ICD follow-up service, including remote monitoring and traveling clinics
- On-call service
- Cath Lab procedures, CIED implants, TAVI, and Electrophysiology
- Exercise Tolerance Testing
- Ambulatory monitoring (Holters, BP)
- Training for Provisional Cardiac Physiologists, Cardiac Physiology Technicians, and other healthcare staff
We are accredited as an SCT training facility. Please note that there is no Echo component involved in this role.
About You
As a Cardiac Clinical Physiologist, you will possess:
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
- A Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Technology (MTEX) or an equivalent qualification
- A Certificate of Cardiac Physiology (CCP) or an equivalent qualification
- Registration with the appropriate professional body
