About the Role
We are excited to announce a permanent full-time opportunity for a Medical Oncologist at one of New Zealand's premier cancer centers. In this role, you will join a dynamic and supportive environment where clinical excellence, research innovation, and academic engagement are prioritized.
As part of our expert multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with eight medical oncologists, ten haematologists, ten radiation oncologists, and five palliative care physicians. Together, we provide comprehensive care across a variety of settings, including an inpatient ward with an autologous bone marrow transplant suite, a day care and chemotherapy suite, outpatient departments, and a radiation treatment facility.
You will also have the chance to contribute to a wide range of clinical trials, including phase I studies of novel agents, through our active research unit dedicated to advancing cancer treatment.
As a regional cancer center, we offer oncology services to a diverse population of 750,000, with chemotherapy administration and outpatient clinics located in Hamilton and three secondary hospitals. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as part of Waikato Hospital's collaboration with the University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
The salary for this position will be commensurate with your experience and in line with the ASMS SECA agreement. We also offer additional benefits, including KiwiSaver contributions (if eligible), a generous CME allowance, and wellness support.

About You
To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and characteristics:
- A Medical Oncologist who is vocationally registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- A versatile and flexible clinician with a passion for teamwork
- A strong commitment to addressing health inequities
- A valid driver's license is essential
