Te Whatu Ora Waikato District is home to Waikato Hospital, a prestigious teaching hospital and the major tertiary referral center providing specialized and emergency healthcare for the Te Manawa Taki and Waikato region. Serving a patient catchment area of approximately 1,007,000 people, we are the only major hospital in New Zealand that offers all surgical specialties on one campus and acts as the primary trauma hospital for the Te Manawa Taki area.
About the Role
We are inviting applications for the Orthopaedics Registrar positions for the 2025/2026 training year. These full-time positions are designated for non-specialist registrar roles, requiring candidates with a minimum of two years of postgraduate hospital experience, including a variety of surgical experiences.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the diverse field of Orthopaedic surgery within our large tertiary setting. You will benefit from strong supervision and guidance as you explore various career pathways. Our training environment is designed to foster professional growth, allowing you to gain extensive experience across a wide range of clinical settings.
Waikato Hospital boasts 550 general inpatient beds and performs over 34,000 surgical procedures annually across our 24 operating theatres. We handle an average of 220 emergency department presentations each day.
