About the Company
We are excited to announce the upcoming opening of our brand-new PAK’nSAVE in Rolleston in October 2025. We are dedicated to establishing ourselves as the best low-cost supermarket in New Zealand, serving one of the country’s fastest-growing communities with outstanding value and exceptional service. We are looking for skilled and passionate individuals to join our team as Bakery Manager and Bakery 2IC.
About the Role: Bakery Manager
As the Bakery Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead and develop a bakery that embodies freshness and pride in every product. Your responsibilities will include planning daily operations, overseeing production, and ensuring our shelves are stocked with appealing and delicious baked goods that our customers cherish.
In this role, you will:
- Coach your team during busy shifts while maintaining high standards for quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Foster a positive, people-first environment that encourages great food and effective teamwork.
- Manage inventory, minimize waste, and make informed decisions to ensure smooth operations.
- Support team development and performance through clear expectations and daily leadership.
About the Role: Bakery 2IC
In the position of Bakery 2IC, you will support your team in maintaining focus and stepping up in the absence of the Bakery Manager. You will pay attention to details and be ready to assist wherever necessary to keep the bakery running efficiently.
In this role, you will:
- Step in to lead the team as needed, maintaining momentum and morale.
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new team members, guiding them as they acclimate to their roles.
- Support daily operations with a calm, team-oriented approach that ensures productivity and organization.
Both roles will require working either a Saturday or Sunday shift, with staggered start dates leading up to our October opening. We will confirm hours and dates with successful applicants prior to offering a position.
Requirements
We are seeking experienced leaders who can bring energy, structure, and accountability to their teams. Ideally, you will:
- Have proven experience in a similar department leadership or 2IC role, preferably in a supermarket or FMCG setting.
- Be confident in managing staff, inventory, suppliers, and compliance requirements.
- Know how to cultivate a team culture based on trust, performance, and service.
- Be well-organized, approachable, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Understand the importance of food safety, stock control, and customer expectations.
Benefits
Joining our team provides you with a unique opportunity to help establish and grow a brand-new store from the ground up. You will be part of a leadership team committed to doing things right for our customers, teams, and the broader community. You will work in a trusted brand with the excitement of a fresh new opening and in a modern, purpose-built environment that offers room for growth.
