About the Role
We are currently seeking an Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance Team at our Eltham Collingwood Street site in Taranaki. Established in 1985, this facility is the largest consumer and foodservice cheese manufacturing plant in the Asia Pacific region, producing over 65,000 tonnes of cheese products annually for FMCG markets both domestically and abroad.
In this role, you will be an integral member of our multi-disciplined team, participating in a shift crew responsible for electrical breakdown services and planned maintenance. You will focus on health and safety as well as electrical maintenance best practices, utilizing your strong industrial electrical knowledge to provide frontline support to our production teams. Your problem-solving skills will be essential as you confidently troubleshoot and repair breakdowns on our automated and high-speed manufacturing packing and utilities equipment. Additional responsibilities may include instrumentation services and maintenance of PLC equipment, motors, and control loops. This position follows a rostered shift pattern of two days, two nights, and four days off.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have a passion for problem-solving and fault-finding. Staying calm under pressure during unplanned breakdowns is crucial, along with a keen attention to detail. Your forward-thinking approach and results-oriented mindset will allow you to drive continuous improvement on equipment that incorporates some of the industry's most advanced automated technology.
Key skills and qualifications include:
- Experience in a fast-paced automated manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in industrial electrical maintenance functions, including equipment repair, failure analysis, and preventative maintenance
- A New Zealand Electrical Registration with a current practicing license
- Computer literacy and familiarity with a CMMS system
- Experience in the food or dairy industry is advantageous
- Knowledge of PLC automation systems and/or instrumentation is also beneficial
