About the Role We are currently seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our busy teams in the Bay of Plenty. Whether you are a local resident or looking for a fresh start in this beautiful part of New Zealand, we welcome your application. In this hands-on role, you will work with a diverse range of diesel vehicles and equipment. Your key responsibilities will include diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, dismantling, repairing, and reassembling engines and components, and replacing worn or defective parts. You will follow service manuals and technical guides, perform scheduled servicing such as oil changes and tune-ups, and utilize diagnostic tools and computer systems. Additionally, you will respond to breakdown callouts, inspect vehicles, and provide guidance on roadworthiness. Requirements To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience: - A minimum of 3 years of experience working on diesel engines in New Zealand - A trade qualification is preferred, or equivalent experience in New Zealand - Proven ability to work with advanced diesel diagnostics, including OEM software, electronic control systems, and emissions control technologies commonly found in New Zealand fleets - Current, hands-on experience with modern diagnostic tools and diesel technologies, particularly those used in late-model commercial and heavy diesel vehicles - Regular work experience with Kenworth trucks and similar heavy-duty vehicles, with additional experience in Cummins and PACCAR engines being a strong advantage - Own tools and reliable transportation - A minimum of a New Zealand Class 2 licence - A strong commitment to health and safety - Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test - Two recent work references Benefits In return for your expertise, we offer a competitive hourly wage ranging from $30 to $40, depending on your experience. You can expect a minimum guarantee of 30 hours per week, along with varied and challenging work opportunities.
