About the Role We are currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified HVAC Engineers with commercial experience to work at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for the Summer season of 2025/26. Deployments are anticipated to begin in October 2025 and continue through March 2026. This role is not for the faint-hearted, as it involves spending several months in one of the most isolated yet breathtaking locations on Earth. What's on Offer? We provide flights from any major New Zealand airport, along with food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance. The position offers a competitive hourly rate of $73.64, on a contract basis, with payments made fortnightly in New Zealand dollars for a total of 54 hours of work each week. All personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied. We are looking for hard-working team players who are willing to contribute to the project by performing various tasks. The HVAC Engineer will be involved in a large commercial construction project and should possess commercial experience with boilers, HVAC fans, unit heaters, hydronic pumps, wall radiators, and pipe fitting. What’s the Catch? Due to travel restrictions, we are only able to consider applications from New Zealand and US citizens who hold New Zealand or US passports and are currently and permanently residing in New Zealand. Additionally, candidates must be willing to receive vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR. The roles require a long-term commitment, as these positions are not ‘fly in fly out’ (FIFO). You will be expected to work long hours, six days a week. Start dates are approximate and contingent upon successfully passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, fulfilling your notice period, and the availability of ice flights. Candidates must also pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and possess a Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence with a clean criminal record.
