About the Role
We are excited to announce an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join the ORA Wellington Community Team. This is a community-based position within an interdisciplinary team that works collaboratively to support patients on their rehabilitation journeys. The role includes assessing and providing equipment, modifications, and rehabilitation solutions to enhance patients' independence at home.
About the Team/Service/Location
The ORA Community Services team works with individuals experiencing acquired neurological conditions, long-term health issues, or age-related challenges, including stroke, progressive neurological disorders, dementia, frailty, and post-trauma conditions. Our multidisciplinary team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech-Language Therapists, Social Workers, Dietitians, Liaison Nurses, and Allied Health Assistants, and we maintain close collaborations with Nurse Practitioners, Geriatricians, and Rehabilitation Physicians. This position is located in the Wellington team, based at the Ewart Building in Newtown.
We provide ongoing professional development opportunities, including inter-professional practice training, professional support, and discipline-specific training through our professional leaders and clinical supervision. Cultural professional supervision is also available from our Maori and Pacific Health teams.
About You
We are looking for a New Zealand Registered Occupational Therapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and a valid driving license. You should have experience in rehabilitation and a strong understanding of equipment and modification solutions aimed at maximizing patient independence. Experience working in a community setting to help individuals and families navigate the challenges posed by diagnoses and long-term health conditions is highly desirable.
You will possess sound clinical skills, particularly in working with adults, and thrive in a team-oriented environment. We value holistic skills, enthusiasm, and a passion for achieving the best outcomes for our patients. A clear understanding of the health needs of our Maori and Pacific communities is essential.
Our successful candidate will have:
- Experience in rehabilitation (essential)
- Experience working with older adults (essential)
- Familiarity with vocational rehabilitation (desirable)
- An understanding of equipment and modification services (desirable)
