About the Role We are looking for a registered health professional to join our Occupational Therapy (OT) team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering therapeutic activities with a strong focus on rehabilitation and recovery. You will oversee the Tangaroa Activity Centre, manage therapeutic programs and resources, and provide guidance to the OT team. Key responsibilities include: - Coordinating activities at the Tangaroa Activity Centre, including planning, designing, facilitating, and evaluating group sessions. - Ordering resources and liaising with sessional workers and other agencies in collaboration with the hiring manager and the OT expert. - Encouraging participation from other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in program facilitation. The primary objectives for this role are to: - Ensure the Tangaroa Activity Centre provides a supportive and structured environment where tangata whaiora can build strengths and achieve recovery aligned with their goals. - Develop a program in consultation with the team leader and OT expert that creates a safe, relaxed, and sociable atmosphere. - Enhance motivation and socialization through a variety of meaningful occupations and structured/unstructured recovery, vocational, social, and educational groups. - Provide opportunities for observation of mental state and occupational performance, sharing insights with care teams. About the Team/Service/Location You will be supported by the Te Korowai-Whariki (TKW) Occupational Therapy expert and your line manager. The TKW OT team comprises nine OT positions and seven Occupational Therapy Support Worker (OTSW) positions. Our team culture is supportive and encourages new ideas and service planning. The Tangaroa Activity Centre serves as a hub for all units within the campus, and you will work closely with another member of the OT team on a daily basis. About You We are seeking a motivated individual who is committed to meeting service initiatives and optimizing the delivery of therapeutic programs. You should have a creative approach to fostering a welcoming environment for tangata whaiora. In this role, you will be expected to: - Practice in a culturally safe manner, as determined by tangata whaiora. - Collaborate respectfully with colleagues and other MDT members. - Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, and be proficient in using Outlook calendars. - Demonstrate experience in direction and delegation. - Hold a full driver’s license. - Have experience in mental health and rehabilitation settings. - Be a registered health professional with a current practice certificate.
