About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic inpatient rehabilitation service. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, which includes nursing and medical colleagues, to provide person-centered care to our patients.
Our inpatient multidisciplinary team (MDT) at Kenepuru Hospital is a tight-knit group of Allied Health professionals, nursing staff, and medical practitioners. We take pride in fostering a supportive environment where learning and skill development are encouraged. Our team enjoys shared lunches and participates in daily quizzes, creating a positive atmosphere.
Under the guidance of our Clinical Lead for Rehabilitation, we are actively engaged in several projects aimed at enhancing our services, including:
- Reviewing models of care
- Patient-centered goal setting
- Employing a whakawhanaungatanga approach in patient and whanau hui
As part of the larger Kenepuru Inpatient Allied Health team, which includes over 40 professionals from six different disciplines, we work collaboratively to ensure high-quality care for our patients and their families. About the Team/Service Location
We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our inpatient MDT. This team is part of the wider Allied Health Inpatient team at Kenepuru Community Hospital and focuses on three primary areas: Health of Older Persons, Orthopaedics (including amputees), and Neuro-Rehabilitation.
Your role will emphasize timely and high-quality Occupational Therapy input within a multidisciplinary approach to care. While you will primarily be based in the Neuro-Rehabilitation ward, you will also provide support in Health of Older Persons and Orthopaedics as needed. Strong assessment skills and the ability to engage in complex discharge planning with the team are essential for success in this position.
About You
Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand, holding a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
- Experience and a genuine passion for delivering high-quality, evidence-based clinical care in rehabilitation settings
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
- Proficiency in interprofessional practice models
- High levels of motivation and initiative
- An understanding of the health needs of Maori and Pacific communities
- A commitment to reducing inequities and enhancing clinical care and health outcomes
- A current full driver’s license
