    Mental Health Support Worker Te Whare Oranga Tangata o Whakaue In-Patient Unit Mental Health Addiction Services, Te Whatu Ora Lakes Permanent, Full Time About the Company At Te Whatu Ora Lakes, we are committed to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community. We are currently seeking a Mental Health Support Worker to join our dedicated and multi-disciplinary team at the Lakes Mental Health Addiction in-patient unit. Our facility, Te Whare Oranga Tangata o Whakaue, is a 14-bed adult inpatient unit located in Rotorua, serving the Lakes area including Taupo, Turangi, and Mangakino. We are excited to announce that our team will soon transition to a modern 16-bed unit, designed to enhance our model of care, Te Ara Tauwhirotanga. About the Role As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include: - Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe environment for both staff and tangata whaiora, including performing housekeeping duties. - Ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained. - Assisting nursing staff with the care and management of tangata whaiora, which may include personal care tasks. We are looking for someone who can effectively relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and who can remain flexible and calm under pressure. About You We are looking for a Mental Health Support Worker with the following qualifications: - Previous experience in a support worker or healthcare assistant role, preferably in an inpatient mental health setting. - Ability to support tangata whaiora with personal cares, including showering, toileting, dressing, and other activities of daily living. - Capability to thrive in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment. - Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize tasks effectively. - Proficiency in building relationships with tangata whaiora and their whanau from various cultural backgrounds.
