About the Role We are excited to invite you to join our dynamic and collaborative Automation team at our Pahiatua and Longburn sites, where you will support the control systems for the LNI region. As part of our high-performing team of Automation Engineers, you will work in a fast-paced and evolving industry, ensuring our systems are effectively maintained and operating smoothly. In this role, you will experience a variety of tasks that encompass both business-as-usual maintenance as well as participation in projects and strategic technology initiatives. You will primarily be based at our Pahiatua site, focusing on improvements and execution to guarantee high availability and reliability. Additionally, you will spend time at our Longburn site and may occasionally be called upon to support other Fonterra locations as needed. Your responsibilities will include PLC and HMI coding and programming, fault finding, and responding to breakdowns. If you are looking for an opportunity to enhance control systems, manage projects throughout their lifecycle, and engage with hardware, software, and networks, this role is for you. About You We are looking for a natural relationship builder who can collaborate with various teams to understand their needs and challenges. You will implement initiatives to ensure our control systems operate at peak performance. A strong background in automation engineering is essential, with high proficiency in process automation and machine coding, and familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) is preferred. Your strong problem-solving skills will enable you to troubleshoot effectively and work with our partners to initiate remediation efforts promptly. Key skills and attributes include: - Tertiary or trade qualifications in automation engineering, software engineering, or mechatronics - Proven hands-on experience with PLC control systems and programming (experience with Rockwell systems is beneficial but not essential) - Technical proficiency and excellent communication skills - The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm demeanor and high attention to detail Our Values At Fonterra, we embrace our values of Good Together, Better Every Day, and Every Drop Counts.
