About the Role We are currently seeking an internal candidate to join our Acute Allied Health unit as an Acute Allied Health Clinical Coordinator. This permanent position is 0.7 FTE, requiring an additional 0.3 FTE for clinical duties, resulting in a full-time commitment of five days a week. Your leadership will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality and efficiency of patient care, as you will oversee patient flow in the acute wards on the 7th and 4th floors. In this role, you will focus on optimizing service delivery by addressing barriers to patient flow and fostering collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Working closely with the Line Manager and two other Clinical Coordinators, you will coordinate a team comprised of Speech Language Therapists, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Allied Health Assistants. Together, you will ensure smooth transitions of care, enabling timely and holistic patient support. Responsibilities include: - Directing daily staff utilization to balance skill mix and resources according to patient needs - Supporting referral triage and caseload management for high-quality care delivery - Addressing challenges in patient pathways and transitions to optimize flow and outcomes - Coordinating staffing requirements, including leave planning, to maintain service coverage - Facilitating interprofessional communication to enhance collaboration across the healthcare team Who We're Looking For To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualities: - Patient-focused: Committed to ensuring that patients receive the right care at the right time - Registered Allied Health Professional in New Zealand: With a minimum of five years of clinical experience (three of which should be in acute care) and a current Annual Practicing Certificate in a relevant Allied Health Therapy discipline - Strategic thinker and problem-solver: Skilled in identifying barriers to patient flow and optimizing care pathways, while being organized, trustworthy, and receptive to feedback - Strong collaborator: Capable of fostering effective teamwork and partnerships across disciplines, with a good understanding of the roles within allied health - Committed to equity: Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in daily practice A relevant postgraduate qualification and leadership experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage.
