About the Role We are looking for a dedicated Clinical Psychologist to join our team at Hutt Hospital. This is a permanent, part-time position (0.8 FTE, 32 hours per week) with a salary range of $105,000 to $120,000, depending on experience. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a supportive environment that values your skills and offers professional development opportunities, supervision, job security, and workplace wellness programs. You will be responsible for providing high-quality assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for clients. This treatment will primarily take place in community settings, including private homes and facilities, and will involve a diverse range of diagnoses and often complex co-morbidities. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to various services that support the development and functioning of both the team and the organization. This may include case consultation, staff training and supervision, leadership roles, and participation in service development activities, as well as research and evaluation efforts. About the Team/Service/Location The Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMH) primarily operates as a community-based service with access to six inpatient beds at Hutt Hospital. We specialize in providing assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services for individuals facing recent onset functional mental health challenges or dementia with significant behavioral and psychological symptoms (BPSD). Our approach utilizes a case management model alongside liaison services, and we work closely with patients, whanau, General Practitioners, and community caregivers to achieve optimal health outcomes for our clients. We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Psychologist, preferably with experience in working with older adults, who values being part of a high-functioning, collegial, interdisciplinary team. While the role is set at 0.8 full-time equivalent, we are open to negotiating hours. About You To be considered for this position, you should have: - A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalent. - Registration with the New Zealand Psychologist Board, including a Clinical Psychology Vocational Scope of Practice. - A current annual practicing certificate. - A solid understanding of psychopathology and psychological theories. - Experience working in inpatient and/or community older adult mental health services and/or neuropsychology (preferred but not essential). - A good sense of humor and a collaborative, flexible working style. - A current driver’s license.
