About the Company
Join Ara Poutama Aotearoa - Department of Corrections, where our mission is to enhance public safety, reduce re-offending, and address the overrepresentation of Māori in correctional facilities. We are a values-driven organization, guided by the principles of leadership, respect, spirituality, guardianship, and relationships as we strive to achieve the goals outlined in our Hokai Rangi strategy. We value inclusion and diversity within our workforce and are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve.
About the Role
We are dedicated to transforming lives and creating pathways through impactful Community Work projects. As a Community Work Supervisor, you will play a vital role in overseeing individuals serving community work sentences as they engage in meaningful projects at schools, reserves, community groups, marae, and churches—essentially anywhere the community needs support.
In this position, you will be responsible for supervising work parties, planning and organizing projects, developing work skills through pro-social modeling and coaching, maintaining accurate records, reviewing health and safety requirements, and ensuring the efficient operation of the community work center.
This is an exciting part-time, permanent opportunity based in Timaru, requiring you to work one day a week for a total of 8 hours. There is also some flexibility to take on additional hours as operational needs arise. To learn more about the role, you can watch a short introductory video on YouTube and visit our careers page.
