About the Role
We are seeking an experienced People & Culture Advisor to join our Timaru office to support our operations in the South Canterbury area. In this permanent full-time position, you will be part of a national People & Culture team dedicated to providing effective, efficient, and professional generalist HR activities. Your role will involve supporting operational managers and frontline staff on a daily basis.
This hands-on HR role will require you to provide advice and guidance on effective people practices while championing a variety of HR transactional services, including payroll administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely and pragmatic advice and coaching to managers on all aspects of employee relations, including performance management and disciplinary processes.
- Ensure that all People & Culture practices and advice comply with current New Zealand employment legislation.
- Support the end-to-end recruitment and selection process, from advertising to onboarding.
- Assist with the development and implementation of People & Culture policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Champion our company culture and drive employee engagement activities.
- Maintain accurate employee records, along with some payroll administration.
- Contribute to various People & Culture projects as required.
About You
We believe that our People & Culture function thrives on trusted relationships with the teams we support. Therefore, we are looking for a P&C professional who:
- Has proven experience in an HR Advisor or People & Culture Advisor role.
- Displays high energy, a positive attitude, and a solutions-focused mindset. You should feel comfortable working on employee engagement as well as front-line policy advice.
- Possesses the ability to influence and constructively challenge.
- Has a minimum of 3 years of solid work experience in a similar role, including employee relations, performance management, staff engagement, and remuneration.
- Is a strong communicator whose collaboration skills help you form effective relationships across all levels of the business.
- Is self-driven and takes initiative in a fast-paced and busy environment.
- Has strong organizational skills and processes.
- Holds a relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field (desirable).
