About the Role
In this position, you will thrive on supervising a team, managing operational challenges, and ensuring that our customers receive excellent service through the efforts of your team. This role offers a dynamic team environment, as well as opportunities for training and development. You will experience variety in your work, both at our Auckland depot and on-site, where you will be responsible for delivering and collecting freight from residential and commercial premises.
As a PM Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Branch Manager to coordinate the timely cross-dock of freight at our Auckland sites. You will oversee the unloading and re-loading of our linehaul units coming to and from our Hub. Additionally, you will collaborate with the AM Operations Manager to ensure smooth operations between shifts within the Auckland Transport business.
Your responsibilities will include leading a team of freight operators/loaders to efficiently move freight from staging areas to loading bays, completing necessary unit unloads and reloads to meet departure deadlines. You will prioritize load plans to ensure key customer freight is prioritized and utilize volume reporting to arrange additional resources and overflow runs as needed, in collaboration with the Branch Manager.
In this fast-paced, specialized transport environment, we maintain a strong focus on safety. As the PM Operations Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring adherence to operational safety processes, compliance requirements, and site security protocols.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with people and processes.
- Ability to utilize reporting for operational planning and adapt to changes in plans.
- Competence in reporting results and managing day-to-day operations related to freight loading and unloading.
- Experience in supervising teams and actively participating in operations.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for training and engaging with team members.
- Physical fitness for tasks involving lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving freight by hand, trolley, and forklift.
- Commitment to health and safety leadership within your team.
- Awareness of security protocols to ensure the safety of the building and vehicles.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office, for decision-making purposes.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills for career advancement.
- A valid forklift license and operating certificate, along with experience in managing dangerous goods (DG) freight handling and loading requirements.

This is a full-time permanent role based at our Westney Site. You will work Monday to Friday, totaling 50 hours per week, with typical hours scheduled between 6:30 PM and 3:30 AM.
