About the Role
We are currently offering casual employment opportunities across the Tawa, Titahi Bay, and Porirua areas in the Wellington region. These roles are perfect for individuals looking to kickstart their careers in the mental health sector while enjoying flexible shifts and a diverse range of support work.
As a casual Support Worker, you will cover leave for permanent staff and gain valuable experience across our various Wellington-based services, which include community mobile support, respite, residential, and recovery. This role will allow you to broaden your skill set and engage in a variety of tasks.
In a respite service, you will assist guests with medication management, provide emotional support, facilitate activities, maintain the home environment, cook, clean, and host visiting clinical teams. In our residential services, your responsibilities will include supporting individuals with appointments, shopping, cleaning, and medication management. Our community services involve home-based support, which includes helping clients with household tasks, attending appointments, grocery shopping, medication adherence, and home exercise.
Please note that the hours of work are irregular and are offered as they become available. We operate 24/7 and currently have an urgent need to fill the following shifts:
- Awake night shifts: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Afternoon shifts: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
The Team
You will be part of our Pathways Wellington team, reporting directly to the Team Coach. Together, we share a common purpose: to support individuals experiencing mental illness.
Requirements
We are looking for individuals with a caring disposition and the ability to work from a person-centered perspective. A recovery-focused approach is essential, along with strong attention to detail. Additionally, you will need:
- A current full driver's license
- A current first aid certificate or a willingness to obtain one
- For respite services, you must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW), or a recognized equivalent, or be currently studying towards this qualification
- Flexibility and availability for varying shifts
