About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer/Supervisor to support the operation and delivery of the Timaru District Council Road Network Operations and Maintenance Contract. In this role, you will report directly to the Contract Manager and will be responsible for the daily operations of the maintenance contract. This includes assisting with programming and reporting functions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating resources, including plant, personnel, and subcontractors, to effectively complete pavement works and contract maintenance.
- Overseeing site setup, planning, and quality control for all projects under your management.
- Translating contract documentation into practical work instructions to ensure clear communication with crews and key stakeholders.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A relevant Civil Engineering qualification.
- Significant experience in supervising crews within a road maintenance environment.
- Knowledge and experience in the management and maintenance of both sealed and unsealed pavements, including design aspects.
- Familiarity with service location experience and pavement testing, including the use of compaction testing equipment like the Clegg Hammer and Nuclear Density Meter.
- A strong understanding of effective pavement drainage practices and techniques.
- Skills in coordinating emergency response events.
- Proficiency in Pocket RAMM and RAMM HTML.
- Experience in organizing resources, including crews and subcontractors.
- Strong financial acumen and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail with an emphasis on health and safety, quality, and data collection.
