About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Case Loading Midwife to join our Primary Birth Unit. In this vital role, you will provide continuous, personalized care to women throughout their antenatal, labor, birth, and postnatal experiences. We seek a midwife who is passionate about supporting women through their maternity journeys while maintaining high standards of clinical care and collaborating with other healthcare providers.
As a Case Loading Midwife, you will manage a caseload of 40-50 women per year, delivering midwifery care throughout the entire maternity process. You will operate on a roster system, including on-call duties, to ensure seamless care within the Birthing Unit and across other Health NZ Counties Manukau maternity services as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Continuity of Care: Support women through their entire maternity process, offering care 24/7, which includes telephone advice and in-person assessments for urgent situations.
Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Work closely with hospital and specialist services, as well as other health professionals, to ensure women have access to necessary care, including obstetric consultations.
Quality Improvement and Risk Management: Lead initiatives to identify quality improvement opportunities, actively participate in case review meetings, and contribute to the development of controlled documents.
Professional Development: Commit to ongoing professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge in midwifery practice, cultural safety, and legal and ethical standards.
Cultural Sensitivity and Diversity: Uphold the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti O Waitangi, respecting diverse cultural beliefs and practices.
Utilize IT Systems: Efficiently use clinical information systems such as i.PM, Clinical Portal, and BadgerNet.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential criteria:
- NZ Registered Midwife with current Midwifery Registration
- A minimum of 2 years of recent midwifery experience in New Zealand post-registration
- A full and clean NZ driver’s license
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and the ability to maintain evidence-based practice
- A strong commitment to quality improvement and professional development
- Excellent communication skills
