About the Role
We are currently seeking a qualified General Practitioner or Urgent Care doctor to join our team as a Casual Fast-track Doctor in the Children's Emergency Department (CED).
In this role, you will focus on providing acute care to children presenting with primary care conditions. Our goal is to enhance the efficiency and appropriateness of care for these young patients.

About the Team / Service / Location
The Children's Emergency Department at Starship is the only dedicated emergency facility in New Zealand that exclusively addresses the needs of children. As a regional paediatric advanced trauma centre, we serve acutely ill or injured children and young people aged from birth to 15 years.
We are supported by comprehensive medical, surgical, radiology, and intensive care services within Starship Children's Hospital. Our multidisciplinary team includes Māori and Pacific Island support workers, play specialists, social workers, and clerical staff, all collaborating closely with our nursing and medical professionals.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand and eligible to work in the country.
Key requirements include:
- A GP or Urgent Care qualification
- Knowledge or experience within the New Zealand healthcare sector, preferably in the public domain
- Experience in research and quality improvement
- Familiarity with the diverse cultures and ethnic groups within New Zealand society
- The ability to thrive in a demanding work environment
