About the Role
We are excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Registered Nurse to join our team as a Neurodevelopmental Clinical Nurse Specialist within our Paediatric Medicine and Developmental Service. In this permanent role, you will work 24 hours a week from Monday to Wednesday, with hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with paediatricians and coordinators, engaging across our service in a variety of capacities including practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, leader, and case manager. Your focus will be on enhancing clinical excellence and improving health outcomes for our complex and vulnerable clients.
This position offers a chance for professional growth as you step into a senior nursing role. You will serve as a shared clinical nursing lead, providing support, mentorship, and resources for tamariki, whānau, and health professionals, all aimed at directing and improving health outcomes for children and young people.
About You
We seek an experienced practitioner who has a strong background in working with tamariki and rangatahi, whether in a hospital or community setting. A solid understanding of our health and disability services, as well as community supports, will be advantageous.
You should be passionate about your work and committed to achieving positive results. As a collaborative team member, you will maintain high standards of care and strive for improved patient health outcomes. Demonstrating proven leadership capabilities and a solution-focused mindset is essential, as you will provide information, mentoring, education, and practical support to our team.
Strong interpersonal skills are crucial, as you will engage with a diverse range of individuals. Your ability to lead effectively and communicate clearly will be vital as you assess children for medication reviews, gather information, and create care plans while liaising with paediatricians and the broader team. Excellent time management skills will enable you to facilitate timely referrals to services, maximizing the benefits for children and their families.
A current New Zealand driving license is required, as this role involves community visits to services and whānau, in addition to hospital responsibilities. You should either hold or be working towards a relevant postgraduate qualification and must be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
