About the Role We are currently seeking Driver Operators to join our team at Fulton Hogan. In this role, you will support our maintenance contracts and various projects primarily in the southern Auckland area, focusing on pavements, kerb and channel work, and asphalt applications. As a skilled and safety-conscious Excavator Operator, you will be an integral part of our dedicated construction team. While your primary duties will involve operating machinery, you will also be required to assist with laboring tasks such as concrete pours, finishing, and laying asphalt as needed. In addition to the responsibilities outlined, you will: - Operate excavators for tasks including digging, trenching, loading, and grading as directed - Locate services using the CATGeny (Utility locator) - Perform excavating tasks according to specifications - Conduct reinstatement of patches in carriageways - Carry out routine machine inspections, maintenance, and basic repairs - Maintain accurate daily logs of operations, including fuel usage, hours worked, and incidents - Complete physical formwork and asphalt reinstatement duties for footpaths, driveways, kerbs, and panel replacements This is a full-time, permanent position with a minimum guarantee of 40 hours per week. The hourly rate for this role ranges from $27.00 to $35.19. The official title for this position will be Driver Operator. Requirements We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following qualifications: - A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Excavator Operator in the construction industry - A Class 2 Full NZ Driver's License (required to operate vehicles over 20 tonnes) - A current Wheels, Tracks and Rollers (WTR) NZ endorsement - Proficiency in operating excavators ranging from 1.8 to 20 tonnes - Flexibility to work AM, PM, and night shifts, including weekends (65% of work will be night shifts) - Experience in concrete, formwork, and asphalt work is preferred for times when not operating machinery Benefits At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our employees and are committed to providing the tools and opportunities you need to thrive and grow with us.
