About the Role
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team at the Manukau village. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the daily operations of our kitchen. Your support will enable our chefs to prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals to our residents and visitors. By assisting with food preparation and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, you will significantly contribute to the overall dining experience for our residents.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
- Helping with the plating and presentation of meals
- Operating dishwashers and ensuring that all kitchenware is properly sanitized
- Keeping kitchen areas clean, organized, and compliant with health regulations
- Assisting with receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries, including managing stock rotation
This is a casual position, where you will work on an as-needed basis.
Requirements
We are seeking individuals who are approachable, reliable, and team players with a strong work ethic. A genuine desire to contribute to a high-performing kitchen is essential. The ideal candidate will also possess:
- Previous work experience, preferably in hospitality
- A friendly, can-do attitude and excellent communication skills
- Good physical stamina
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a supportive team
