About the Role
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Sterile Services Technician. In this role, you will be part of a small, multi-skilled team within the Central Sterile Services (CSS) department. Your primary responsibility will be to provide essential sterile services to Wairarapa Hospital, specifically supporting our Operating Theatres for both acute and elective surgical and medical procedures.
This is a casual position with the potential for 0 to 80 hours of work per fortnight, as needed. Flexibility is key, as applicants must be available at short notice to cover any shift requirements.
About the Team/Service/Location
As a Registered Sterile Sciences Technician, you will be responsible for upholding high standards in the decontamination, assembly, inspection, wrapping, and sterilization of reusable medical devices for operating theatres, as well as other wards and departments. You will work in compliance with established policies and procedures to ensure quality care is consistently delivered. Your role will involve maintaining workflow between Sterile Services, theatre, hospital wards, and clinics, thereby supporting our commitment to excellent customer care.
About You
We are looking for candidates who have achieved a minimum of a Level 3 or Level 4 Certificate in Sterilizing Technology, along with relevant experience (Level 3 is acceptable if obtained prior to 2019). Additionally, you should be a member of the NZ Sterile Sciences Association (NZSSA) and maintain professional registration with them.
Requirements for the position include:
- Availability to work 0 to 80 hours per fortnight, including weekends and nights.
- Eligibility to apply as a New Zealand citizen, resident, or holder of a permanent work visa.
