About the Role
We are currently looking for a dedicated Youth Worker to join our OTIS youth team in Waikanae. This is a part-time position, requiring 32 hours of work per week, with shifts scheduled from Friday to Monday, between 3:00 PM and 11:30 PM.
In this role, you will provide support to one or two taiohi, especially those with complex needs or mental health backgrounds. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with clinical service staff to design personalized support plans.
- Focusing on individuals’ strengths, fostering hope, and encouraging them to recognize their capabilities in overcoming challenges.
- Planning and implementing a variety of activities and programs tailored to help young people achieve their goals.
Requirements
We are in search of a passionate and energized youth worker to enhance our growing service. The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognized equivalent, or be actively studying towards such a qualification.
- Possess a full driver's license.
- Have a current New Zealand first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Te Ao Māori, including Te Reo Māori and Tikanga, or show a willingness to learn.
- Have prior experience in youth work, social work, mental health, or addiction, which is preferred but not mandatory.
