About the Role
We are currently looking for skilled Casual Youth Workers to join our OTIS youth team in Waikanae. This role focuses on providing support for young people with complex needs and mental health challenges in a nurturing home environment, typically caring for 1-2 individuals at a time.
As a Casual Youth Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating closely with clinical service staff to design personalized support plans.
- Fostering an environment that emphasizes the strengths of each individual, instilling hope, and encouraging them to recognize their potential to overcome challenges.
- Planning and facilitating a variety of activities and programs tailored to assist young people in achieving their goals.
- Flexibly covering a range of shifts as needed when permanent staff are unavailable, which may involve working across our other Pathways adult services in various Wellington locations.
We have an immediate need for the following shifts:
- Awake night shift: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- AM shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- PM shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
About You
We are looking for candidates who:
- Hold a Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognized equivalent, or are currently pursuing a qualification.
- Possess a full driver's license.
- Have a current New Zealand first aid certificate or are willing to obtain one.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Te Ao Māori, including Te Reo Māori and Tikanga, or are open to learning.
- Have experience working with young people and a solid understanding of trauma-informed care.
- Exhibit strong de-escalation techniques and relationship-building skills.
