Description
About the Company
We are located in the beautiful region of Kaikoura, known for its stunning landscapes and rich wildlife. Our unique accommodation options, including a yurt, tipi, and train carriage, provide a memorable experience for our guests. We are dedicated to animal care, gardening, and maintaining our properties, and we welcome individuals who share our passion for nature and hospitality.
About the Role
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team starting in late August and early September. In this role, you will assist with the care of approximately 80 animals, help maintain a large vegetable garden, and participate in various DIY projects around our rental units. You will also have opportunities for occasional paid housekeeping work.
As a volunteer, you will contribute four hours of work per day for six days each week, allowing for one day off. We offer private on-site accommodation, which includes two double bedrooms or a single shepherd hut. Amenities include laundry facilities, heating, electricity, and basic living supplies such as soaps and tea. Shared facilities include a shower room, kitchen, and common room equipped with a large TV and entertainment system, along with free Wi-Fi.
Paid housekeeping and DIY hours are available if you hold a working holiday visa, have an IRD number, and a bank account. These hours can account for up to 50% of your working day and may vary based on accommodation bookings and weather conditions. Additional paid hours are also available if you can cover for staff on their days off.
Volunteers receive a weekly cash allowance of $70 for food, which can increase to $100 after four weeks, in addition to free on-site food.
Requirements
We prefer long-term commitments, with a minimum stay of one month. Our location is conveniently situated 1km from a river walk and cycle route, 3km from the beach, and 4km from the town center and mountains, offering spectacular views.
We welcome applications from New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, international students, and working holiday visa holders. If you are interested in this position, please send a summary of your background, your CV or resume, your current location and situation, and any notice period you may have. Please also provide your email address and phone number for further communication.
