About the Role
In this position, you will be responsible for a range of tasks related to the fabrication, installation, and repair of metal products. Your work will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining metal structures and products, such as handrails, vents, and components for construction projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Fabricating, installing, and repairing metal products, including but not limited to vents, handrails, boilers, aircraft and boat parts, or beams and girders.
- Preparing metal for fabrication, which involves reading and interpreting engineering blueprints.
- Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines.
- Setting up metalwork machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears.
- Welding metal pieces together using techniques such as MIG, TIG, or stick welding.
- Double-checking design specifications before cutting.
- Grinding and finishing completed products.
- Inspecting finished products for defects and ensuring all welds, joints, and parts adhere to quality standards, making adjustments as necessary.
- Following health and safety protocols and performing any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 2.5 years of relevant experience or a related qualification.
- A friendly demeanor, along with strong time management skills and a solid work ethic.
- Flexibility to work in various locations across the country.
- A commitment to ongoing learning and skill development within the industry.

Benefits
We offer competitive pay, with a minimum rate of $30.00 per hour, increasing up to $35.00 per hour, depending on your experience. You will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours of work each week.
Location
This role may require you to work in various locations throughout New Zealand, including Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
