About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Clinical Midwife Manager to join our Maternity South team. This leadership role is ideal for a committed midwife who is dedicated to delivering high-quality maternity care and ensuring optimal outcomes for women and their whānau.
In this position, you will provide expert clinical leadership and direction, managing the day-to-day operations of maternity services. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, offering support to midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants in delivering exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the maternity ward team to ensure safe and high-quality maternity care.
- Support and mentor midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants in their clinical practice and professional development.
- Oversee bed management, staffing allocation, and resource planning in partnership with Midwifery Managers.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand Midwifery and Ministry of Health standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement, auditing, and risk management.
- Collaborate with Lead Maternity Carers and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive maternity care.
- Actively contribute to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in maternity care, promoting equitable health outcomes for Māori women and their whānau.
- Support the implementation of health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
About You
You should be a New Zealand Registered Midwife with a current Annual Practicing Certificate and possess over five years of recent clinical experience in a secondary or tertiary birthing facility. A strong understanding of the New Zealand Maternity Model of Care and Section 88 is essential, along with proven leadership experience and the ability to effectively lead and coordinate a team.
