About the Role We are excited to offer a permanent part-time position for a Senior Social Worker in the North Island Sarcoma Service, with a commitment of 24 hours per week. This role, based at Te Toka Tumai - Auckland City Hospital, presents a unique opportunity for career growth as you will be the first Senior Social Worker in this service. In this position, you will be an experienced practitioner focused on developing expertise in the specialty area of sarcoma. As a key member of our North Island Sarcoma service, your contributions will be vital to service development, fostering strong connections with local and regional services to enhance access, coordination, and equity of care throughout the North Island. You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality service delivery that aligns with our operational and strategic goals. This role involves working with patients diagnosed with sarcoma across the North Island, with surgical management overseen at Te Toka Tumai. You will provide client, family, and whānau-centered care within an interdisciplinary team, supporting patients through the cancer continuum from diagnosis to survivorship and palliative care. About the Team/Service/Location You will join a busy and rewarding environment as part of a varied interdisciplinary health team focused on regional patients within the North Island Sarcoma Service. Located at Te Toka Tumai, Auckland City Hospital, you will operationally report to the Clinical Support Directorate, benefiting from the support of a large physical health social work service. About You We are looking for someone who possesses the following skills and attributes: - A recognized Social Work qualification with full registration from the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board and a current Annual Practising Certificate - Demonstrated experience in service development, evaluation, and research to support continuous improvement and innovation - Sound clinical reasoning and professional judgment at the level of an experienced practitioner within the sarcoma care context - Experience in supporting resource development to enhance psychosocial care capacity across the North Island sarcoma network - Ability to act as a mentor and advisor, supporting clinical reasoning and practice for others - A key point of consultation for internal and external stakeholders, enhancing psychosocial care capacity across the wider sarcoma cancer network - A commitment to contributing to the continuum of care by working in partnership with clients, key stakeholders, and agencies - A full, clean class 1 driver's license For more detailed information about this role, please contact Kristy Martin, Clinical Lead, at 021 570 628 or via email at kristy.martin@tewhatuora.govt.nz.
