About the Role
We are currently seeking resilient, energetic, and conscientious individuals to join our team as Support Workers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build strong, trust-based relationships with the people you support, helping them navigate health-related issues or disabilities. This position is not just a job; it’s a rewarding journey that allows you to provide invaluable support tailored to the needs of those you assist.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with personal care activities such as showering and bathing
- Supporting household management and meal preparation
- Assisting with exercise programs
- Helping individuals access the community
- Providing bowel, bladder, and catheter care
- Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
- Supporting medication management
Job Location: Wellington and surrounding regions, including Wairarapa, Carterton, Masterton, Greytown, Kapiti Coast, and Hutt Valley.
Employment Type: We offer both part-time (up to 29 hours) and casual positions, including coverage for shifts. These options will be discussed further during the recruitment process.
Days of Work: As this role is community-based, you will participate in rotating rosters that include morning, evening, and weekend shifts. We encourage you to discuss your preferred hours during the recruitment process. Availability for sleepovers and weekend shifts is also required, with hours varying based on the specific needs of the individuals we support.
About You
We are looking for calm and confident individuals who demonstrate resilience and an understanding of the challenges faced by our service users. The role of a Support Worker comes with a variety of responsibilities that can be both challenging and fulfilling. The reward of enabling someone to live their best life in the community is what makes this role so impactful.
Candidate Pre-Requisites:
- Prior experience in personal care is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities is advantageous.
- Familiarity with complex medical conditions, such as spinal injuries and traumatic brain injury, is beneficial.
- Access to a car and the ability to drive independently is preferred (a full Driver's License is required).
- Ability to drive a mobility van (training will be provided).
- Having a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial, although candidates looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered, as comprehensive training can be provided.
- Flexibility to travel throughout Wellington and surrounding areas.
- Flexibility to work on a rotating roster.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand is essential.

We offer a competitive pay band of $24.13 - $30.03 per hour, based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017, which assesses hourly pay rates according to the equivalency of healthcare qualifications. Our benefits include:
