About the Company New World Stanmore is a well-regarded community supermarket located in the heart of Christchurch. About the Role We are currently seeking to fill one or more positions for Checkout Operators at our store. This role may be ideal for university students looking for flexible working hours. The shifts available are as follows: - Wednesday: 2:30 PM to 8:00 PM - Thursday: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM - Saturday: 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM - Sunday: 12:30 PM to 7:30 PM These hours may be covered by one individual or split between two individuals, with each handling one weekday shift and one weekend shift. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including: - Providing exceptional customer service by scanning and packing groceries - Authorizing alcohol and tobacco purchases - Problem-solving and assisting customers with self-scans - Handling Lotto sales - Stocking shelves and assisting the Grocery team during quieter periods - Maintaining cleanliness in the checkout area Requirements The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes: - A valid Liquor Duty Manager Certificate or a willingness to obtain one (must be 20 years or older) - A strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service and the willingness to go the extra mile - Ability to work effectively in a team setting while also being capable of completing tasks independently within deadlines - Initiative, honesty, and reliability - A positive attitude and a 'can-do' mindset - Physical fitness, as the role requires being on your feet for extended periods Benefits If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply through our website.
