About the Role
We are seeking compassionate and family-oriented individuals for our Family Home Reliever positions based in Whanganui. This role involves providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for tamariki and rangatahi on a 24/7 basis.
As a Family Home Reliever, you will be responsible for:
- Day-to-day care of children and young people
- Providing emotional support to vulnerable children
- Coordinating transportation to appointments and activities
- Assisting with meal preparation, homework, and maintaining a comfortable living environment
This is a casual opportunity with shifts available on an as-needed basis to cover periods of absence and annual leave for our caregivers. You will have the flexibility to choose shifts that align with your work-life balance while making a positive impact on the lives of tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualities:
- A passion and resilience to support children and young people with diverse needs
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for your work, serving as a role model
- Experience in caregiving, community work, or working with young people is advantageous
- An understanding of cross-cultural practices, particularly knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples' culture
- Skills in behavior management and conflict resolution
- A calm and professional demeanor
- Excellent listening, oral, written, and observational skills
- A current full clean New Zealand driver's license
- Professional references from current and previous employers
