About the Role
We are seeking a Health and Safety Business Partner to provide outstanding leadership in health, safety, and wellbeing across the Mackenzie District Council. This role is vital in ensuring that our employees at Team Mack feel safe, happy, and supported in their work environment. You will be instrumental in promoting and embedding a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
As the Health and Safety Business Partner, you will serve as the primary resource for health and safety guidance for both management and team members. Strong relationship-building skills, excellent communication abilities, and technical expertise are essential for providing sound advice to the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, as well as other team members.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting audits, and reviewing and developing systems, policies, and procedures. You will also champion employee wellbeing and create initiatives that best support Team Mack. A genuine passion for health and safety will be key to advancing our practices at Mackenzie District Council.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications and experience:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Health and Safety
- A minimum of three years of experience in a related field or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and other relevant legislation
- Proven ability to perform well under pressure and maintain strong organizational skills
- Experience in developing and implementing Health and Safety Management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong professional judgment and decision-making abilities
- A clean full driver's license is essential, as you will need to travel between our Twizel and Fairlie offices
This is a permanent, part-time position, requiring 32 hours of work per week, based out of our Fairlie office.
