About the Role
We are currently seeking a Support Worker for our Intensive Support Service (ISS) based in New Lynn. This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 40 hours of work per week, operating from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The hourly pay rate ranges from $25.00 to $30.00, depending on your qualifications and their equivalence to the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4).
In this role, you will provide tailored, person-centered support to whaiora with high and complex needs, particularly those with intellectual disabilities and forensic mental health backgrounds. Our primary focus is to enhance clients' quality of life through structured day programs that promote skill development, community participation, and independence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering personalized life skills and day services tailored to individual client needs.
- Collaborating with clients to set and achieve personal goals using behavioral interventions and strength-based approaches.
- Providing both individual and group-based community support.
- Designing, delivering, and evaluating high-quality programs that align with core ISS initiatives.
- Fostering skill development to encourage community involvement and facilitate entry into the workforce.
- Engaging in physically active duties, including sports participation and, when necessary, using safe restraint techniques.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- A New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) or an equivalent qualification.
- A Full New Zealand Driver's License.
- A valid and current work visa, residency, or citizenship.
- Experience working with individuals who have intellectual disabilities and complex behaviors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and adapt to a diverse range of people across various backgrounds and cultures.
- A genuine passion for supporting individuals on their journey to recovery and achieving their ongoing goals.
