About the Role
Burwood Health Campus is looking for a dedicated and professional Receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis, working 20 hours per week from Monday to Friday, 4 PM to 8 PM. In this essential role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, providing a warm and efficient reception service. Your responsibilities will also include supporting hospital operations through accurate patient admissions and discharges, cash handling, and a variety of administrative tasks—all while ensuring confidentiality and maintaining a high standard of customer care.
You will be working both independently and as part of a supportive team, receiving guidance from the Manager of Orderly Services and adhering to Health NZ policies. This position has been mapped to National Band 2 / Profile 2 under the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement.
Key Responsibilities
Reception and Customer Service
- Provide a friendly and professional front-of-house service for all visitors and staff.
- Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries with accurate and helpful information.
- Direct patients and visitors to the appropriate services or departments.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming reception environment while upholding patient confidentiality.
Cash Handling and Financial Duties
- Perform all cashiering duties in accordance with Health NZ financial policies.
- Manage receipting, banking, and petty cash transactions accurately and on time.
Administrative Support
- Complete patient admissions and discharges using the Patient Management System (SI PICS).
- Prepare and print patient labels and documentation for ward use.
- Coordinate room bookings, events, and transportation of specimens as needed.
- Maintain a supply of forms and stationery.
- Assist in emergency procedures and provide general administrative support across the site.
About You
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in administration, reception, or customer service.
- Familiarity with cash handling and data entry.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent computer literacy, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and email.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- A team player with maturity, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality.
