About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Compliance Coordinator to join our team at the Kate Valley Landfill and Gareth James Energy Park, located in Waipara. This position is crucial for supporting site compliance, which includes employee engagement, contractor pre-qualification and monitoring, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. You will play a key role in implementing WMNZ’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Management System.
In this role, you will help maintain safety and environmental standards, ensuring that all reporting and documentation meet both regulatory and internal requirements. Most importantly, you will contribute to a stable team environment where everyone can return home safely at the end of each day.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate HSEQ compliance records and documentation.
- Review and update Work Instructions, Job Safety and Environmental Analyses (JSEAs), hazardous substance registers, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) registers.
- Support external audits and assist in developing corrective action plans.
- Develop and coordinate site HSEQ plans.
- Organize and deliver HSEQ training for employees.
- Assist in maintaining licenses, permits, and site-specific emergency and safety plans.
- Be an integral part of the onsite leadership team, identifying and collaboratively addressing non-compliance issues and areas for improvement.
- Support HSEQ governance across the site, ensuring alignment with WMNZ systems and procedures.
Requirements
- Formal qualification in Health and Safety.
- Solid knowledge of New Zealand HSEQ legislation and compliance practices.
- Experience with HSEQ systems, audits, and investigations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Level 2 First Aid Certification.
- Current New Zealand driver’s license.
