About the Role
We offer a unique work-life balance, allowing you to enjoy 4 to 5 days off each week after working 48 to 72-hour blocks. Additionally, shorter shifts of 4 to 8 hours may be available, with a requirement to cover one weekend shift every two weeks. In this role, you will have the opportunity to travel to various locations across the North Island, engage in ongoing learning, and receive support from our dedicated office team.
As a support worker, you will assist individuals with mental health concerns or intellectual disabilities by helping them establish daily routines and activities. You will be part of a caring and supportive team environment that values the well-being of our clients. Your opinions will matter at MindFull, and you will have a voice in shaping our operations and approach to support.
We provide regular clinical and cultural supervision, as well as opportunities for debriefing. At MindFull, you will never feel like "just" a support worker; we embrace a collaborative and meaningful approach to our work in the mental health and disability sector.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
- A full driver’s license
- A Level 4 or higher qualification in a health or youth-related field
- Experience in the healthcare or community sector, particularly working with rangatahi or youth
- A reliable vehicle with current warrant and registration
Additionally, candidates who succeed in our interview process will demonstrate the following qualities:
- Comfort and experience working in high-risk environments
- A proactive and adventurous spirit, with a willingness to engage in activities with our clients
- Strong professional boundaries and effective communication skills
- A collaborative approach to working with both your team and clients
- An understanding of mana-enhancing support strategies
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and mental health approaches, including de-escalation and active listening
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity
- A growth mindset, open to new research and methodologies
- Confidence in navigating crises and working with individuals with high and complex needs
- Flexibility in your approach and the ability to follow plans
- Self-awareness and reflective practice
- A desire for work-life balance and openness to casual and flexible work arrangements
