We are currently seeking motivated Health Care Assistants to join our team in New Plymouth. About the Role As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our residents in a challenging yet rewarding environment. This position requires a commitment of 30-40 hours per week. You will be responsible for providing personal care, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our patients. Your key responsibilities will include: - Providing personal care, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding patients. - Assisting patients with mobility and daily living activities. - Monitoring and recording vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate. - Supporting nursing and medical staff by following instructions and maintaining cleanliness. - Assisting with meal preparation and serving, while considering dietary needs. - Offering companionship and emotional support to our patients. - Helping with the safe moving and transferring of patients. - Reporting any changes in patients' conditions or needs to nursing staff. - Maintaining accurate documentation of patient care activities. Requirements To be considered for this role, you should meet the following qualifications: - A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Health Care Assistant or a NZQA Level 4 qualification in Health Care. - A compassionate, patient, and understanding demeanor. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently. - Experience accompanying aged and disabled persons during daily activities. - Cultural sensitivity and the ability to engage with families. - A relevant health care qualification, such as a Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, is preferred. - Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. - First Aid and CPR certification is advantageous. Working Conditions, Hours, and Compensation Our facility is located in a pleasant area of New Plymouth, and we offer a supportive work environment. You will be compensated for actual hours worked, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 40 hours per week. Our remuneration rates are competitive and based on experience, ranging from $26.16 to $28.25 per hour.
