About the Role
We are seeking a Support Worker for a casual position based in New Plymouth, Taranaki. Our Support Workers play a crucial role in the lives of families, particularly in stabilizing placements for children with specific needs. This position requires a high level of care, empathy, and professionalism, as you will be working closely with our Tamariki to ensure their needs and safety are prioritized.
In this role, you will be mentoring a sporty teenage girl. Your support will be vital in helping her navigate her challenges and fostering a positive environment for her growth and well-being.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A Certificate in Health and Wellbeing is preferred.
- Experience in providing physical, emotional, and therapeutic care to vulnerable children, young people, or babies.
- Familiarity with the needs of children who have experienced trauma.
- A strong ability to quickly establish trust, rapport, and routine with the child and their family.
- A deep commitment to ensuring the well-being of our children.
- Ability to work effectively in a private foster home setting and maintain focus on the specific needs of a child, regardless of their level of need.
- Experience working as part of a professional team.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transport, as driving and mentoring tasks are part of the role.
- Flexibility to work on weekends.
- An understanding of the special relationship between Māori and Tauiwi, along with a strong empathy for our organization's mission and values, particularly our Christian Kaupapa.
