About the Role
We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager for our Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) at New Plymouth Hospital. This is a fixed-term, full-time leadership position focused on enhancing patient flow throughout the hospital. The successful candidate will support the Admission, Discharge, and Transition Unit (ADTU) while collaborating closely with the larger IOC team.
In this role, you will lead a skilled team that provides support across the Taranaki District. This position offers a unique opportunity for Registered Nurses seeking to take on a leadership role, with comprehensive orientation and induction programs in place to ensure your success. You will oversee the ADTU team, Variable Resource Management (VRM), Patient Assessment and Review (PAR), and transfer nurses, while partnering with the Duty Nurse Manager to manage early interhospital transfers and patient movement from the Emergency Department.
Strong working relationships with the organization’s senior nursing team, medical staff, Service and Operational Managers, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team are essential for providing high-quality patient care.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A Post Graduate Certificate, with a preference for those working towards a Post Graduate Diploma or Master's degree
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and navigate challenging situations
- Advanced experience in a range of nursing areas, along with proven leadership capabilities
- Experience in change management and financial management is desirable, as well as familiarity with quality improvement processes
Preferred candidates will also have:
- Knowledge of the implications of the Treaty of Waitangi and a commitment to improving health outcomes for Māori
- Sound knowledge of the Care Capacity and Demand Management program, including experience with TrendCare, core data set measures, and Variance Response Management
- A current New Zealand Nursing Council Annual Practising Certificate
- A minimum of five years of experience as a registered nurse, ideally with leadership experience such as a clinical nurse coordinator or a similar role
- Practicing at an expert or senior PDRP level
- Quality improvement knowledge and the ability to lead quality projects
- The capability to work in a complex, changing environment while managing multiple competing priorities
About the Team/Service/Location
The IOC is responsible for overseeing patient flow and leading various clinical and non-clinical responses, including planning and forecasting occupancy and VRM. Our large team collaborates closely with all other hospital services to ensure seamless patient care.
