About the Role
At Te Whatu Ora Taranaki, our maternity service includes a secondary maternity unit at Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth and a primary birthing unit in Hawera. The maternity unit features a combined birthing suite and antenatal ward, as well as a separate postnatal ward. Facilities include six birthing rooms, a birthing pool, seven antenatal beds, and 16 postnatal beds. The primary birthing unit in Hawera has one birthing room with a pool and three postnatal beds.
Our neonatal unit is accredited at level 2A, equipped with six cots and two intensive care cots to care for infants from 28 weeks gestation. In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting families throughout their maternity journey. You will utilize your skills and knowledge to ensure that families receive the highest quality care. Additionally, you will have opportunities to demonstrate your commitment to quality assurance and accreditation principles. We also offer flexible working arrangements for successful candidates.
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you will need to:
- Be registered with the Midwifery Council or have eligibility, along with holding an Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Have at least one year of postgraduate experience, though we encourage new graduates to apply.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be willing to work rostered shifts across all areas of the maternity service, including antenatal, birthing suite, postnatal ward, and the primary unit.
