Description
About the Company
Tradestaff Global is a leading provider of skilled labor across various industries, with a strong focus on the construction sector. We are currently seeking dedicated and qualified plumbers to join our team for an exciting opportunity at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the upcoming summer season.
About the Role
We are looking for licensed plumbers with commercial experience to work at McMurdo Station from October 2025 to March 2026. The deployment is expected around October, with return dates to be confirmed at this stage. This role is not for the faint-hearted, as you will be living and working in one of the most remote yet stunning locations in the world for several months.
What’s On Offer?
We provide flights from any major airport in New Zealand, as well as food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance. The hourly rate for this position is $66.11, with contracts paid on a fortnightly basis in NZ dollars for a total of 54 hours per week. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied. This is an opportunity for hard work that comes with a great reward, allowing you to save money while gaining invaluable experience and forming lasting friendships. If you have ever dreamed of working in Antarctica, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
What’s the Job?
Working in Antarctica offers a unique experience. We need hardworking team players who are willing to contribute on the tools, perform essential tasks, and support one another. You will be involved in a large commercial construction project, undertaking various plumbing responsibilities, including basic and repetitive tasks. A current New Zealand Plumbing Licence is required for this role.
What’s the Catch?
Due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens with New Zealand or US passports, currently and permanently residing and working in New Zealand, are eligible to apply. Vaccination against Flu, Tdap, and MMR is mandatory. Please note that these positions are not fly-in, fly-out (FIFO); you will be on-site for an extended period, working long hours, six days a week. Start dates are approximate and contingent upon passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, and availability of ice flights.
Candidates must also pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, hold a Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence, and possess a clean criminal record. The application process can be lengthy, so patience is essential. Candidates should be prepared to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental examinations, with costs for testing and flights covered if traveling from outside the Bay of Plenty.

To apply, please submit your application online along with an updated CV that highlights your commercial construction skills, experience, and the types of projects you have worked on.
