Description
About the Company
Ceres Demo is a leading specialist in large-scale demolition and deconstruction projects throughout New Zealand. We are recognized for our commitment to high standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and efficient project delivery. As we expand our operations in the Wellington region, we are looking to add experienced digger operators to our team.
About the Role
We are offering a temp-to-perm opportunity for skilled digger operators to join our growing workforce. In this role, you will be responsible for operating diggers and excavators, primarily ranging from 5 to 30 tonnes, for various demolition and deconstruction activities. You will work with a range of attachments, including grabs, breakers, shears, and pulverisers, ensuring precision and care in all tasks.
Your key responsibilities will include safely dismantling commercial and residential structures according to engineered plans, managing the loading of demolition waste into trucks, and overseeing material separation on-site. You will also conduct pre-start checks, report any machinery issues, and perform basic maintenance. Adhering to health and safety protocols, including dust suppression and traffic control, is essential. Collaboration with site supervisors and other crew members will be crucial to keeping projects on schedule and within scope.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should have a minimum of two years' experience operating diggers in a demolition or civil environment. A WTR endorsement is essential, and while a Class 2 licence is preferred, it is not mandatory. Experience with demolition-specific attachments will be a strong advantage.
We are looking for candidates who possess a solid understanding of health and safety practices on high-risk sites. You should be physically fit, reliable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Additionally, candidates must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing and provide a clean Ministry of Justice check.
Benefits
We offer competitive pay rates based on experience and the opportunity for long-term employment with a respected name in the demolition industry. Our team members can expect opportunities to upskill with new machinery and tools, while working in an environment that prioritizes safety and fosters a strong team culture. You will have the chance to contribute to iconic projects in Wellington that make a real impact in the community.
